In 1942, just eight days after Oregon State won their place in the Rose Bowl, the unthinkable happened. The attack on Pearl Harbor changed the lives of all Americans, and out of consideration of safety, the US government canceled all large gatherings on the west coast. The 1942 Rose Bowl was the first to be played outside of Pasadena- hosted by OSU’s opponent, Duke. Entering the game as the underdog, the Beavers rose to the occasion. They secured the victory, winning 20-16. Honor this team, nicknamed the “Men of Roses,” with this championship design featuring the classic Beaver mark with a red rose in his mouth.
